Conference Speaker for April 6, 2019
Mr. Bob Canton came to Spokane to share his experience of working with the power of the Holy Spirit. The theme of the Conference was, “You Shall Receive Power When the Holy Spirit comes down on you, then you shall be my witnesses.” Acts 1:8 Mr Canton has authored a book called Miracles Never Ending. Many persons attending read the book prior to better prepare themselves for the conference. Or, took the book home after to better understand what happened. The book describes how he and his wife came into the Renewal. Now he is a world traveler bringing the Good News of Jesus to thousands. He is an ordinary Catholic man who has experienced a deep prayer life. Bob Canton gives the credit for his effective healing ministry to his regular praying in the spirit (see Ephesians 6:18). At the Conference Mr. Canton gave many references to how the Holy Spirit helped the first Christian Church and how the same Spirit helps us today. He gave a challenge to all attending to use the gifts that God has given to each person. The Holy Spirit empowers us to do the work of Jesus. The work of Jesus is to love others, bring healing to others, to set captives free.
On Saturday we all celebrated the Holy Mass with Fr. Miguel Mejia. Then we had a time for Bob Canton to pray for healing with persons attending. Many needs were addressed for healing. He prayed for hearing, vision, walking, emotional needs and more. Some healing came quickly and other healings are in process. The Lord works in the time and way that He chooses. As I watched the proceedings, the most impressive part of the day was the endurance that Bob Canton showed as he prayed with most persons attending. Each person was given his undivided attention to their specific needs. I guess there were about 120 persons who received prayer that day. Even when many persons were going home in the evening Bob was still praying with others who wanted prayer. Bob was empowered with the Holy Spirit to have the energy to keep ministering after many hours. If he was tired, he did not look or act tired. The Holy Spirit will provide for our needs when we prayerfully seek His help.
God works through very normal ways. This conference was the result of many planning sessions, working out the logistics, the hospitality of Gonzaga Prep, money donations to pay for bringing Bob Canton into Spokane, printing postcards and a banner, announcements in parish bulletins, and more. Also, a big THANK YOU to the musicians who provided many hours of beautiful inspiring music. All the healing that Jesus did for us was worth it. Please start praying now for the Holy Spirit to be generous to us in whatever is planned for the future.
Thank you, Charlie McGuire
